When you make a film you tell the story three times; when you write the script, when you shoot, and when you edit. These three phases are all very different.
Editing makes me always very happy because it is exciting. We have a bunch of material (photo) and can swop scenes around or turn them up side down, in our search to find the perfect way to tell the story. This first week, here in Luxemburg, we have thrown out several scenes. Even shots that took lots of effort to make. I don’t feel pity, because the most important thing is that the film tells the story and communicates the right feeling.
At the same moment now the sound designer and the composer are busy creating their parts. Soon it all will converge.
